All-Terrain Tires
72There are so many kinds of vehicles these days, and coming along with them are various kinds of tyres too. Usually, whenever you buy a new vehicle, whether it is a bike, a car, a truck or even a tractor for that matter, you get it along with the standard type of tyres. However, there are certain people who prefer some specific kinds of tyres on their vehicles, and may want to go in for a particular brand or customized tyres. Pretty obviously, if they are so particular and choosy about their tyres, it means that they have full knowledge about what kind of tyres will suit the activities that they carry out with their vehicle. But unlike them, there are many people who are not aware of the various kinds and variety of tyres that are available in the market, and thus, they often end up getting fooled or cheated by tyre manufacturers and others.
Therefore, there is a need to educate people on terrain tyres and its types, and related aspects too, so that they can ensure good performance on long journeys. All- terrain tyres are usually found on four wheel vehicles, especially in trucks and other similar heavy vehicles. A vehicle will pass through various kinds of land surfaces, some rough and some smooth, some good and some harsh. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the tyres you have fitted in your vehicle are durable enough to pass through all this. In terms of the grip on loose sand and dirt, all- terrain tyres are pretty good and reliable. Usually, off road vehicles prefer to make use of these tyres, but the disadvantage is that these are quite noisy.
For off- road journeys, and especially if you undertake such journeys regularly, it is important that you select your tyres carefully. Just buying bigger and stronger looking tyres does not solve the purpose. Many people think that the bigger the block pattern is on the tyre, the greater will be the traction. However, that is not the case. You need to consider many other factors before you plan to buy off- road tyres. Consider the weight, height, suspension lift, manufacturer’s reputation among other things before making this decision.
Other Types of Tyres
Apart from the all- terrain tyres, there are many other kinds of tyres too that are available for you to choose from. All of them have their own advantages and disadvantages, and are good for some or the other specific vehicle or purpose.
The most common is the standard or the all- season type of tyre, which is good for use in wet and dry climates both. This is the kind of tyre that you will usually find your newly purchased vehicle equipped with.
Next is the performance tyre, which is meant for fast cars. Racing cars make use of such tyres as they are excellent when it comes to grip in the dry. Therefore, racing drivers who have to control grip and performance prefer these.
Besides these, there are also winter tyres and run- flat tyres. Winter tyres are meant for driving vehicles in poor climatic conditions, which in turn lead to dangerous driving conditions. These tyres are meant to ensure your vehicle’s safety; in fact yours too. It is precisely for this reason that the block pattern on winter tyres is bigger as compared to standard tyres, as they add to strength and durability. Run- flat tyres on the other hand are a new entrant in the tyre market and industry. They are actually found in the relatively newer models of cars that are coming out in the market these days. As the name suggests, these tyres can let you drive on even if the car has a puncture. They are created by making use of a new and advanced kind of technology which ensures that they operate without air.
You kind find tyre changing and repair outlets almost anywhere. However, it is advisable that you always get your tyres changed or repaired from a reputed company showroom or service centre. This ensures that the repair products used on your tyres are genuine and compatible with the tyres. Though, service at other centers may turn out to be slighter cheaper and inexpensive, it can cost you a lot in the long run if an accident occurs due to poor performance of your tyres.
Purchase tyres from a reputed manufacturer, and consult friends and others who have been using them. Also, just buying the tyres doesn’t end the chapter, and you need regular care and maintenance for these. Change them on appropriate times to avoid future troubles, and get them checked every now and then to ensure that they are safe for use. Majority of accidents and mishaps occur because of faulty tyres. Hence, never compromise on this investment.
